My day at Calamo
Adel Abd al-Majeed spends his working days in Calamo's cleanroom. There, he experiences varied tasks and enjoys his workgroup.
In Calamo’s tube department, cleanroom treatment is an important part of the process. A cleanroom is a controlled environment where contaminants in the form of particles are prevented and monitored. To compare cleanliness, it can be likened to the air in an urban environment where there are 35,000,000 particles of size 0.5 µm per cubic meter of air. A cleanroom (ISP class 4) can contain a maximum of 353 particles of size 0.5 µm per cubic meter of air.
“When the shift starts, we go through the day’s manufacturing orders, plan production, and assign the different tasks. Tasks may include electropolishing, cleaning of tubes, passivation, and clean room treatment.”
“I clean the tubes with ultrapure and filtered hot water, then dry them with hot filtered nitrogen gas. Then I inspect the tubes and plug the ends, finally I wrap the tubes with double polyethylene before they leave the cleanroom.”
“Every day I learn something new, gain new experiences, or just have opportunities for personal development. The variety of tasks is stimulating, and it’s also fantastic to work with a nice and fun workgroup.”
