My day at Calamo
Amanda Fredriksson works as an operator in Calamo's department for subcontracting services and electropolishing. Varied tasks and a strong sense of community are what make her thrive at Calamo.
At Calamo’s subcontracting department, surface treatments such as hot pickling, passivation, and electropolishing are performed on everything from needle-sized details to 5-ton heavy vessels and structures in stainless steel.
“We help our customers improve their stainless surfaces in many different industries,” Amanda Fredriksson explains.
“My main task is electropolishing customers’ goods and products, but it can vary with other surface treatment methods. A typical day consists of various types of electropolishing, forklift driving, overhead crane operation, final inspections, and packing of outgoing goods.”
“Being able to vary tasks and not do the same thing all the time. Right now, in electropolishing, I find it enjoyable to polish small, intricate things, or when new products arrive that we haven’t treated before. And of course, collaborating and planning operations for the best results together with my colleagues.”
“It’s definitely the sense of community, I would say. It never feels boring to go to work.”
