My day at Calamo

“Help Each Other to Solve Problems”

Jan Olsson is the shift leader at Calamo's tube department. He appreciates how the sense of community contributes to smooth workdays.

At the tube department, stainless steel tubes undergo surface treatments – there are several facilities for washing, pickling, and electropolishing specially designed to handle a wide range of dimensions. There are also stations for marking and inspecting tubes. To further ensure quality, tubes can be washed and dried in special clean rooms.

What does a typical day at Calamo look like for you?

“Very diverse! Usually, we start by checking the personnel situation so we can plan the day. I ensure there’s raw material and wooden boxes available in the department and that everything is organized for efficient production. I also check that finished tubes ready for storage are prepared for pickup.”

“It’s also about handling any deviations and ensuring that maintenance of equipment and machinery is reported and carried out by appropriate personnel. I also have ongoing coordination of the planning to ensure optimal prioritization in production.”

What’s the best thing about Calamo in your opinion?

“It’s enjoyable when I get to be involved in production and contribute to achieving tough goals. Then, there are my colleagues, of course, that we always help each other to solve problems and overcome obstacles. Everyone always pitches in, and we work with good spirits and humor.”
